The first few seconds of ‘Schatze’ feel like a piece of meditative music, but within seconds, it is revealed that Ohtis’ first single of the year is a brilliantly funny commentary on the ‘selfish antisocial male’. The call and response with Stef Chura is perfectly executed, with each side of the conversation represented perfectly by the simplistic accompanying video. It feels like a modern take on Ben Folds and Regina Spektor’s ‘You Don’t Know Me’. There is also a darkness lurking beneath, with Ohtis’ Sam Swinson explaining that he “got the idea for the song on an oceanfront balcony up in Cambria when my wife got annoyed by my neurotic vape addiction cramping the vibes.” Their Document Series 7-inch drops February 26^th, 2021. -Dan Peeke
